Eye Donation by Macula Healthcare

Donate Eyes

Pledge your Eyes today to help them see a better tomorrow

Eye donation is a gift of sight that can transform the lives of those suffering from corneal blindness. Millions of people, including children and adults, lose their vision due to corneal damage, yet a simple act of donation can restore their ability to see. Since only human corneas can be transplanted, eye donation is the only way to help them. It’s a selfless act that lives on even after death, bringing light into someone's world. With a quick and painless process, your donation can change two lives. Pledge your eyes today and leave behind a legacy of vision!

What you need to know

Anyone can donate their eyes, regardless of age, gender, or medical history (including diabetes, hypertension, or prior eye surgery).
Eye donation is voluntary and can be pledged at any eye bank. Even if not pledged, family members can donate on behalf of the deceased.
No cost or payment is involved; the donor and recipient remain confidential. However, recipients may have to pay a processing fee.
Only the cornea is used for transplantation; eyeballs are never sold.
Timing is crucial—eyes must be removed within 4-6 hours of death, so contacting the nearest eye bank quickly is essential.
The procedure is quick (around 20 minutes), causes no facial disfigurement, and does not delay funeral arrangements.
✅ A death certificate from the treating physician is mandatory.

Anyone can be an Eye Donor

Everyone is encouraged to consider eye donation. While final eligibility is determined at or near the time of death, based on a thorough medical evaluation, many people are still suitable donors. Even individuals with conditions such as cancer, diabetes, or macular degeneration, or those who wear glasses or contact lenses, may still be eligible to donate their eyes for transplant purposes. Eye donation is a generous act that can give the gift of sight—regardless of age or medical history.
